Twenty years ago, Special Santa was created by a group of families with children with disabilities who struggled with the traditional “Santa Mall” visit. They found standing in those long lines and the rushed experience overwhelming. In the end, it was all so very disappointing and upsetting. Special Santa was crafted to eliminate all the worries and anxieties these families face in the hopes of a magical moment with Santa. Thanks to the support of dedicated sponsors and passionate volunteers, Special Santa is still spreading the Santa magic to over 120 families each year.

 

As the event grew, we looked for ways to augment Special Santa to reach children who cannot visit Santa in-person, even in the special circumstances that we provide. In recent years, we added and expanded a Santa-Mobile option, which allows Santa and Mrs. Claus to visit families and take photos outside their homes.

 

Both the in-person and Santa-Mobile options have an experienced Santa who works comfortably with children with disabilities. Mrs. Claus and a merry band of Elves are also on hand to provide warm, understanding experiences.

 

For 20 years, we have had the pleasure of sharing Special Santa with some amazing children and their amazing families. With your help, we can make the 2025 holiday season full of happiness and wonderment.
