Events

The Special Santa Program has created a number of ways to raise awareness and funding to buy gifts and needed items for the children. We invite you to participate in any or all of these programs. The programs include:

  • A Moment for Me - Friday, November 21st from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Lake Lucille Best Western will be the site of this special evening for women to relax, enjoy friends and shop. Local artists and home shopping representatives will offer an assortment of unique affordable gifts. Ladies pay $30.00 per person and must be 21 or older to attend. Beverages, hors d’voeuvre and dessert are served. Drawings for Door Prizes occur throughout the event. Seating is limited so call the Special Santa Hotline 761-3770 now to reserve your tickets.
  • Halloween Hollow – October 31st from 4:00 – 8:00. Halloween Hollow is the season kick-off event with Toys for Tots. Raven Hall on the Alaska State Fairgrounds is the location for this ‘fun not frightening’ carnival for trick or treaters. Businesses from around the Valley host booths and games, giving treats of a candy and prizes.

    • Toys for Tots The Special Santa Programs works closely with Toys for Tots. Boxes are set in various businesses around the community; all the toys collected in the Valley go to children here in the Valley.
    • Book Drive – Giving each child a special book is a major goal of the program. Books for infants to 18 year olds are collected.
    • Coins for ChristmasVarious schools, groups and businesses collect coins to be donated to the program.
    • Specialty Drive Groups, businesses and schools select a special item or items to collect. A women’s group collected winter coats, an elementary PTA did a battery drive, one young man did a bicycle drive, and various families make and donated fleece blankets
